Heather O'Reilly, Lindsay Tarpley, Lori Chalupny and Tobin Heath will be amongst 18 American players seeking to mine gold Thursday morning when the U.S. goes up against Brazil in the championship match of women's soccer at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The match begins at 9 a.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on the USA Network.

The University of North Carolina Department of Athletics will
not charge admission to regular-season men's and women's soccer games at
Fetzer Field this fall. Extensive renovations are currently under way at
Carmichael Auditorium, which is located adjacent to Fetzer Field. Because of
the construction, spectators will not be permitted to walk on the paved
driveway between the intramural fields and Carmichael.

University of North Carolina golfers Barden Berry and Kevin O'Connell lost in the first round of match play at the 108th U.S. Amateur played at Pinehurst's No. 2 course. Berry, from Kinston, N.C., lost to Connor McHenry, 2&1 while O'Connell, from Cary, N.C., lost to Brian Harman, 1 up. (more)
