AS A FRESHMAN (2005)
Emerged as one of the Tar Heels' top midweek starters • Appeared in 11 games and made eight starts • Posted a 3-1 record and a 3.38 earned run average in 42.2 innings • Fanned 38 batters and walked just 15 • Held opponents to a .250 average • Did not allow a run over his first two career starts against Princeton and Towson in a combined 11 innings • Picked up his first career win after allowing just one hit in seven shutout innings versus Towson March 23 • Tossed a complete game shutout with a career-best 10 strikeouts against Davidson April 12 • Allowed just two runs and fanned seven againts VCU April 20 • Third win of the season came with three shutout innings against East Carolina May 17. Summer 2005: Made eight appearances for the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League • Posted a 3.09 ERA and struck out 10 in 11.2 innings.
