(opening statement): "One of my assistants has a saying that 'we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.' That was very true of tonight. We are very excited about the win. We persevered tonight. Our kids hung in and dodged some bullets in the extra innings. We are certainly happy to have won."

(about catcher Tim Federowicz): "Timmy is a great kid. He struggled some tonight, but he came up big later. You never like a game to fall on one kid."

(about the win): "The kids were able to win and persevere. You can see how we have won 51 games; these kids never quit."

North Carolina Starting Pitcher Andrew Miller
(about the bullpen): "It was amazing what they did tonight. They were unbelievable. I can't give them enough credit."

North Carolina Relief Pitcher Jonathan Hovis
(about the importance of the win): "This is the way it has been all year. We played strong the entire game. This adds to what this year means to us. We are having a blast this season."

Cal State Fullerton Head Coach George Horton
(opening statement): "It was a great ball game. Obviously we were disappointed. Whenever you put that much up front and come up shorts, we got knocked on our rear ends. When the wind shifted, it was a different type of ball game. I thought that was to our advantage."

(about his starting pitcher for the next game): "When we sent (Lauren) Gagnier out there for the second inning, we made the decision that (Dustin) Miller will be our Tuesday guy."

(about whether squeeze play was on in 11th inning with Cory Vanderhook on third and Brett Pill at the plate): "Cory (Vanderhook) got caught off third. That happens with young kids. We had information that they use that play. They practiced that play. It was a quality move. The kid executed it well. Cory just kind of fell asleep."

Cal State Fullerton Second Baseman Justin Turner
(on having so many base runners in the game): "That's just the way it goes. We set the table well. We just couldn't get the timely hit. The whole game was exciting and intense. Both teams played great baseball, and I think that's what people came to see."

(on his performance): "I felt I had a shaky first inning. My slider wasn't what I wanted it to be, and that's my go-to pitch."
