  • With a 91-69 win over No. 8 Georgia Tech Wednesday, Carolina's current winning streak is now 14 games, marking the Tar Heels' longest streak since an 18-game run during the 2000-01 season. Carolina has not lost since dropping its season-opener to Santa Clara. UNC has also won 12 straight at the Smith Center.

  • The Tar Heels are now 3-0 in ACC play for the first time since the 2000-01 season. Carolina has won its first three games by an average of 30 points.

  • Carolina's 22-point win was its largest over a top-10 opponent since a 97-73 victory over No. 1 Duke on Feb. 5, 1998. The win also marked the largest over Georgia Tech since a 78-49 win on March 5, 1999 in the ACC Tournament.

  • Carolina carried an 18-point lead into intermission thanks to an outstanding defensive first half. The Tar Heels shot only 37.0 percent but limited Georgia Tech to just 26.9 percent shooting, including an 0 of 7 mark from three-point range. UNC also forced 10 Yellow Jacket turnovers in the opening half and 19 in the game. For the night, Tech shot 36.8 percent from the field and just 17.6 percent (3-17) from behind the arc.

  • Led by 14 points from freshman Marvin Williams, the Tar Heel bench outscored the Yellow Jacket bench, 36-11. With 10 first half points, Williams reached his season average in the opening frame versus the Yellow Jackets. He finished with 14 points and six rebounds and has now reached double figures in five straight games and seven of the last eight.

  • Carolina continued its outstanding ball movement with 24 assists on 28 made baskets. Junior Raymond Felton led the way with seven assists and now has 43 over the last five games (8.6 apg).

  • Felton also hit on 3 of 8 three-point attempts and has now made 19 of his last 30. He finished with 11 points, a season-best seven rebounds and three blocked shots, which tied a career best. Felton has scored in double figures in seven of the last eight games.
     

     

  • Junior Rashad McCants had 12 points and five rebounds, but also set a career-best with four blocked shots. He has hit a three-point field goal in 30 straight games.

  • Junior Sean May had 12 points and 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season (first since the USC win). May now has 18 career double-doubles.

  • With a team-best 18 points, senior Jawad Williams scored in double figures for the 17th consecutive game. He has reached double figures in scoring in each game this season and 75 times as a Tar Heel.

  • Sophomore Jesse Holley saw his first action of the season and had three points and one assist in one minute of action.
