2004 - Junior Season
Started the final five games of the season • Tied for seventh on the team with 48 tackles, including 25 primary stops and 23 assists • Tied for third on the team with six tackles for losses of 18 yards • Posted eight tackles against Boston College in the Continental Tire Bowl • Made two tackles in the win at Duke • Played perhaps his best game of the season in the win over Wake Forest with a game-high 12 tackles, including nine primary stops and three assists • Had three tackles for losses of 17 yards and a 10-yard sack against the Deacons • It was his first career sack • Started and had five tackles, including a tackle for loss, against Virginia Tech • Was named a captain for the Miami game and made his first start of the season • Responded with his best game of the year, earning defensive MVP honors from the coaching staff • Had five tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss in the victory over No. 4 Miami • Posted seven tackles at Utah and registered a 1-yard tackle for loss • Made two tackles against NC State, including a tackle for loss •Had two assisted tackles against FSU • Assisted on two tackles against Louisville • Credited with three tackles at Virginia.

2002 - Freshman Season
Played in all 12 games and started 11 at middle linebacker • Named fourth-team freshman All-America by The Sporting News • Also made The Sporting News All-ACC Freshman Team •Made his first career start at Syracuse in the second game of the year • Finished second on the team and 14th in the ACC with 7.9 tackles per game • Was the first freshman to start at linebacker for the Tar Heels since Tommy Thigpen in 1989 • Led all ACC freshmen in tackles • Posted 97 tackles, the most by a Carolina freshman since Dwight Hollier had 117 in 1988 • Had 69 solo stops and 28 assists, two tackles for losses, forced three fumbles and intercepted one pass • Registered double-digits in tackles six times, including the final three games of the season • Had 10 tackles against Georgia Tech • Had four tackles and forced a fumble at Arizona State • Intercepted a pass and added 11 tackles at Virginia • Followed that with a 12-tackle performance the following week at Wake Forest • Closed the season with 13 tackles vs. Clemson, 12 tackles (10 solo) at Florida State and 11 stops at Duke • Redshirted in 2001.
