2004 - Junior Season
Played in every game and started the final nine contests • Had 36 tackles, including 18 solo and 18 assists • Tied for third on the team with six tackles for losses of 24 yards • Also had two sacks, a pass breakup and forced a fumble • Posted seven tackles and one tackle for loss against Boston College in the Continental Tire Bowl • Made three tackles in the win over Wake Forest, including two tackles for loss and a four-yard sack • Started against No. 18 Virginia Tech and had six tackles, including a three-yard sack • Started against No. 4 Miami and had four tackles in the 31-28 victory • Two of the tackles against the Hurricanes were for a loss • Made a season-high six stops against NC State • Also broke up a pass and forced a fumble against the Wolfpack • Started against Florida State • Assisted on three tackles against Louisville • Started against Georgia Tech and posted three tackles, including one primary and two assists • Started against William & Mary and had one tackle.
2003 - Sophomore Season
Played in 11 games and started the final four games of the season at outside linebacker • Was sixth on the team with 53 tackles, including 36 solo stops and 17 assists • Made a team-high 6.5 tackles for losses of 21 yards, including two sacks for 11 yards • Had at least four tackles in nine of 11 games • Posted a season-high 12 tackles at Georgia Tech with 11 primary hits and one assist • Had six tackles in the season-opener against Florida State with five solo stops, three tackles for losses and one sack • Registered six tackles against Duke, including a 7-yard sack • Had five tackles against Arizona State and Wake Forest.
2002 - Freshman Season
Played in all 12 games and started one at outside linebacker • Made his first career start at Wake Forest and responded with a season-high 13 tackles, including 12 solo stops • Was one of two freshmen (Doug Justice was the other) to make at least one start at linebacker • Prior to 2002, no freshman at UNC had started a game at linebacker since 1989 • Finished the season with 35 tackles, including 26 solo stops and nine assists • Had at least one tackle in 11 of 12 games • Made four tackles against Georgia Tech and four stops against Clemson • Had three solo tackles at Syracuse •Redshirted in 2001.
Cape Fear High School
Named to the North Carolina Shrine Bowl team • Member of Tom Lemming's All-Mid Atlantic Coast Team • Had 108 tackles, eight sacks, two interceptions and blocked five kicks as a senior • Had 118 tackles and one interception as a junior • Two-time all-region and all-conference selection • Also started at fullback and had 208 yards and five touchdowns as a senior • Coached by Mark Heil • Also competed on the wrestling and baseball teams.

Born Jeff Alan Longhany on October 2, 1982 • Son of Edward Longhany and Patty Hall • Participates in drag racing with his father and brothers • Pretended to be Dan Marino and John Riggins as a kid • Says the best word to describe him is "complex" • Wants to improve his quickness this season • His goal this year is to help the team win the ACC title • Says the best thing about being a football players is "the support of our fans" • Majoring in communications.
