Received a medical redshirt after tearing a tendon in his left hand in preseason practice last year • Had surgery to repair the tendon and is completely recovered • Had an excellent spring and enters the season as the starting defensive tackle.

2003 - Junior Season
Started all 12 games • Played defensive tackle for the first nine games and switched to end for the final three • Finished seventh on the team with 47 tackles, including 30 primary stops and 17 assists • Had five tackles for losses of 19 yards and 1.5 sacks for nine yards • Earned the coaches' praise for his effort in games against Virginia and East Carolina • Had a season-high 11 tackles against Wake Forest, including five solo stops and six assists • Made seven stops at Wisconsin, including 1.5 tackles for losses and a half sack • Registered seven solo stops against Virginia • Made five tackles at Maryland • Had four tackles against Florida State, Syracuse and Georgia Tech.

2002 - Sophomore Season
Switched from offensive guard to defensive tackle in the spring • Started all 12 games and was sixth on the team with 49 tackles, including 24 solo stops and 25 assists • Posted at least one tackle in every game •Had 19 tackles in the last three games of the season • Made a season-high eight tackles and had 2.5 tackles for losses in the win at Duke • Also recorded his first career sack (10 yards) against the Blue Devils • Had six tackles (two solo) against Florida State • Made five tackles (two solo) versus Clemson • Had three stops in the Maryland game • Made seven tackles against Wake Forest • Assisted on a tackle for a loss of two yards versus the Demon Deacons • Had two tackles against the Cavaliers • Made two tackles and assisted on one for no gain versus NC State • Forced one quarterback hurry and made three tackles against the Sun Devils • Had six tackles against the Yellow Jackets • Made one tackle against Texas • Had two assisted tackles against Syracuse • Had four tackles (two solo) in the team's 27-21 loss to Miami (Ohio) • Combined with DeFonte Coleman to drop RedHawks running back Luke Clemens for a two-yard loss on a fourth down.

Coached by John McKissick at Summerville, the largest high school in South Carolina • Did not play football until his sophomore year in high school • Played just one season at Summerville after transferring from Wando High School in Charleston, S.C. • Participated in the Shrine Bowl • Helped lead Summerville to a 11-2 record and a berth in the state playoffs • Started the season at tight end and moved to offensive tackle early in the season • Also played defensive tackle • Named all-region • Selected All-Low Country by the Palmetto Touchdown Club.
