2005 - Junior Season
Broke his right leg (tibia) in the win over Virginia and missed the remainder of the season • Injury did not require surgery • Started against Louisville and registered six tackles • Started against Utah, but missed most of the game with a sickness • Registered two tackles against NC State • Made three stops against Wisconsin • Started against Georgia Tech and had seven tackles and broke up a career-high three passes.
2004 - Sophomore Season
Started all 12 games at cornerback • Finished tied for fourth on the team with 61 tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions • Also had three pass breakups and one fumble recovery •Posted four tackles against Boston College in the Continental Tire Bowl • Made one tackle at Duke • Recorded seven tackles, including six primary stops, in the win at Wake Forest • Made three tackles against Virginia Tech • Posted six tackles, including four solo and two assists, in the victory over No. 4 Miami •Registered eight tackles, including seven primary stops and one assist, at Utah •Had a season-high 10 tackles, including eight solo stops and two assists and a tackle for loss, against NC State • Made eight tackles, including five primary and three assists, and broke up a pass against FSU • Had two tackles against Louisville • Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week for his performance in Carolina's 34-13 win over Georgia Tech •Recorded five tackles, broke up two passes and picked off two passes in Carolina's 34-13 win over Georgia Tech • Made his first career interception the second quarter when he outjumped the Yellow Jackets' wide receiver Calvin Johnson for control of the ball at the North Carolina 3-yard line •It was the first interception for the Tar Heels in 12 games, dating back to the 2003 Wisconsin game • Picked off his second pass of the game in the fourth quarter in the end zone, negating a Yellow Jacket scoring drive • Posted two tackles at Virginia • Made his first career start in Carolina's win over William & Mary • Recorded five tackles against the Tribe.
2003 - Freshman Season
Played in seven games and saw action on 78 snaps • Saw his most extensive playing time against East Carolina with 31 snaps • Made four tackles, including two against Arizona State, one at ECU and one at Maryland • Redshirted in 2002.
Scotland County High School
Played on North Carolina's Shrine Bowl team and had an outstanding showing • Rated the No. 31 prospect in North Carolina by SuperPrep • One of the Charlotte Observer's Top 25 players in North Carolina • Made 68 tackles and had three interceptions as a senior • Returned two of those interceptions for touchdowns • Also competed in track • Coached by Mark Barnes.
