Carolina Golfer Barden Berry Named All-America Scholar

July 10, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfer Barden Berry has been named a 2007-08 Division I Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar as chosen by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Berry, a senior in 2007-08 from Kinston, N.C., was earlier selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large Third Team and carded four top-20 finishes this year on his way to a 73.56 stroke average.

This marks Berry's second consecutive year as a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar. Berry was selected to the All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team in 2006 and 2007 (this year's squad has not been announced). He has been named to UNC's Dean's List each semester since becoming a Tar Heel and earned a spot on the ACC Honor Roll in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 (this year's ACC Honor Roll has not yet been selected).

To be eligible to be chosen a Division I Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior with a 3.2 minimum cumulative grade-point average and must obtain a 76.0 stroke average.
