As a Freshman: Granted a medical redshirt due to wrist surgery • Hoping to bounce back from fall injury problems • Competed in one fall tournament, the Napa Valley Challenge • Won his first match as a Tar Heel against Brandon Davis of Illinois in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
