North Carolina Receives Bid To NCAA Tournament For Sixth Straight Year
May 4, 2005 INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The University of North Carolina men's tennis team has received a bid to play in the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament for the sixth successive year and the 16-10 Tar Heels will play in a regional hosted by Western Athletic Conference champion Boise State the weekend of May 13-14. Texas A&M (15-8) is the top-seeded team in the Boise regional at the No. 16 seed in the overall NCAA Championship. The Aggies will play Big Sky Conference champion Montana State (19-6) in one of the regiona's first round matches. The other first-round match will put UNC, semifinalist in the 2005 ACC Tournament, against WAC champion Boise State (30-7). On Friday, May 13, No. 16 Texas A&M (15-8 overall) will play No. 68 Montana State (19-6 overall) at 1 p.m. (team introductions at 12:45), then No. 31 Boise State (30-7 overall) will play No. 34 North Carolina (16-10) at 5:30 p.m. (team introductions at 5:15). All matches will be played at the Appleton Tennis Center on the Boise State campus. The winner of Saturday's match will go on the the NCAA National Championship (Sweet 16) in College Station, Texas, on the Texas A&M campus. On Saturday, May 14th, the winners of the two Frday matches will play each other at 5:30 p.m. (introductions at 5:15 p.m.). The winner of the match will advance to College Station, Texas, to play on May 21 in the NCAA Round of 16. Tickets will be $5 for a general admission adult ticket and $3 for a general admission children's ticket each day. Tickets will be available at the Boise State Athletic Ticket Office in advance beginning Tuesday, May 10. Friday and Saturday, May 13th and 14th, tickets will be available at the South entrance to the Appleton Tennis Center under the arches. Parking will be free for all fans and will be available in the
parking lot between Bronco Gym and Bronco Stadium on both days.
