Carlotti & Plyler Named To All-ACC Academic Team

Aug. 1, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Benjamin Carlotti and senior Will Plyler of the University of North Carolina men's tennis were amongst the 22 players conference-wide named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Tennis Team as announced recently by Commissioner John D. Swofford.

Carlotti, a native of Paris, France, was a four-year singles starter for the Tar Heels from 2005-08 after transferring to UNC from Ole Miss. He led the Tar Heels to four successive NCAA Tournament appearances, NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in 2006 and 2008 and to the championship match of the 2007 ACC Tournament. Plyler, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., also started consistently over the past four years, rotating at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions in Coach Sam Paul's lineup.

Carlotti majored in business administration at North Carolina and Plyler was an economics major.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
