CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Missing regular starters in three different weight classes, the University of North Carolina wrestling team fell to Atlantic Coast Conference rival Virginia, 27-10, Friday at Memorial Gym. The loss drops the Tar Heels' record to 12-6-1 and 0-1-1 in league action, while the Cavaliers improve to 6-4 and 1-0 in the ACC with the victory.

Carolina picked up three individual wins on the night, led by redshirt freshman Vincent Ramirez, who notched a 13-5 major decision over Peter Ferrara at 141 pounds. The Durham native is now 29-6 on the season, including a 14-1 mark in duals.

Following four straight Cavalier wins, sophomore Justin Dobies picked the Tar Heels' second victory, a 5-2 decision over Kyle Narkiewicz at 184. Dobies is now 23-11 on the season, with an 11-5 record in duals.

UNC heavyweight Spencer Nadolsky closed out the night with his 20th straight victory, a 6-1 decision over Nick Smith. Nadolsky, who is ranked 12th nationally in his class, is now 34-2 on the season and 18-0 in duals. Nadolsky, Dobies and Ramirez are each 2-0 in ACC duals this season.

Virginia won seven bouts on the night, including a technical fall at 174 and a forfeit at 197, which were good for 11 points. The Tar Heels were without regular starters Chris Ramos (149), Alex Maciag (174) and David Dashiell (197).

Carolina returns to action Saturday at Maryland at 1 p.m. and at No. 19 Navy at 5 p.m.
